Frequently Asked Questions

These are the most commonly asked questions we receive on our contact page, in the comments, or in person.

Q: What is the best way to contact someone from Friends of Copperfield Nature Trails?
A: The best way to get in touch with us is through our Contact us! page or message us through Give Pulse online platform: https://givepul.se/k5ryqg

Give Pulse KAB FCNT

Q: Where is the Copperfield trail and park?

A: Visit the City of Austin, Texas parks info and search for “Copperfield”: https://www.austintexas.gov/page/park-directory

or

https://www.austintexas.gov/page/trail-directory

an interactive park map is in the process of being improved as of July 2023

Q: Can I reserve the pavilion or part of the trail for an event / party?
A: The city of Austin has not designated our park or trail as a reservable area. As such, you’ll need to treat the park, including the pavilion, as a “first come, first serve” area.

Q: What are the leash laws? Can I have my pet off-leash?
A: According to the city of Austin, there are 12 off-leash areas in several parks throughout the city. Copperfield trails and the adjoining park do not fall under any of these areas. As such, you are required to keep your dog on a leash at all times. For direct information at the City of Austin’s own website, click here.

Q: I’d like to volunteer! How do I go about doing that!
A. We have at least four official volunteer days per year! We partner with both Austin Parks Foundation and Keep Austin Beautiful using Give Pulse https://givepul.se/k5ryqg to recruit volunteers for those events. If you’d like to volunteer on your own, you’re more than welcome to clean up trash and dispose of it properly.

If you have any other questions, as always, please use our Friends of Copperfield Nature Trail Give Pulse Page, or feel free to post a comment here.

  1. I would like to be added to your email list for announcements as I will be moving to the neighborhood early next year.

  2. I’d like to be added to your email list. I’m looking forward to helping out with the trail. Thanks for keeping this great resource in good shape!

  3. I would like to be added to your email list, I love the trail and want to bring my 4 boys out for the next volunteer work day!

    • done! you are now added to our email list.
Our planned work days are Fall It’s My Park Day November 2, 2019 January 18, 2020 (Sat before MLK Day), March 7, 2020 Spring It’s My Park Day, and Keep Austin Beautiful Day which is usually the first or second Saturday in April.
Registration for It’s My Park Day Nov 2 will open in October and I’ll send out an email, post on our website, and post a message at the Yager park kiosk, and it will be listed on the Austin Park Foundation website under Copperfield Trail something with a link to register.
We will have a variety of activities, mostly focusing on mulching around Blakeney pond, but you can do trash pick up or help with native plant maintenance.
We’d love to have you and family join us for a fun volunteer day on the trails.
You are, of course, welcome to pick up trash on the trail anytime. 🙂

  4. You need to add a button “add me to your distribution list” or something 🙂
Or well, at least add me specifically, please!

    • Great idea about adding a button. Our distribution list is maintained separately from this website and I’ve added you to it.
For now, for our website we are operating under “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” as most of our volunteer efforts go into the volunteer cleanup days, which we try to do at least four times per year. Our website gets very little traffic and Nextdoor, Facebook, Keep Austin Beautiful and Austin Parks Foundation probably bring in more volunteers for events than this website. Glad you found us this way, though.
      thanks for your interest!
