Typically, on general work days of which there are 4-5 per year, we clean garbage, plant native plants, mulch, etc. However, there are specific tasks that need to get done that would require an entire workday of their own, and so we have a tendency to put them off. No more! This is our list of specific work that needs to be done. This list is subject to change, and we intend on adding pictures for a visualization.
Atterbury Pond Entrance – The entrance at Atterbury Lane entrance to the trail is a magnet for garbage. It is a condensed, hard to clean area, especially considering trash piles up in the pond itself. This will require a team of volunteers to actually enter the water (via boat or tall boots) and retrieve garbage. It would also be ideal to pick a couple very specific bushes to clear to make it easier to access the trash, without affecting the trail too much.
Blakeney Creek Crossing – The crossing is in a state of disrepair, making it more and more difficult to cross as time goes on. There are a number of solutions, be it stepping stones, a small bridge, etc. We need to plan the best solution, then get together and build it.
