Come see the design of our Copperfield Greenbelt Park!
MWM Design has filed the site plan for Copperfield Greenbelt Park (notice attached). The case number is 2010-138495 and here is a link to the online case.
Over the next few weeks, the City of Austin Development office will review the site plan and make recommendations. If there are no major changes recommended, the site plan will be approved this spring.
Veronica Castro from MWM Design attend the CNO meeting on January 21st and showed the design plans. They are saving as many trees as possible and adding additional trees. They are asking for a waiver regarding sidewalk construction. The letter of explanation is on file on the city's website, but basically they are asking to not spend $30,000 on sidewalks that will not connect to anything and would likely be reworked when Yager Lane is improved.
There will be benches along the walking loop, although their exact location will be determined later. The total budget to cover everything in Phase I of the park is $600,000. That includes the pavilion, walking loop, playscape, swings, water fountain, sidewalks, parking lots, landscaping, signage, etc.
After the site plan is approved, Parks planning will put the project out for bidding. The funding for the park will be available in the city's next fiscal year (October, 2010). After the funding is approved by City Council and a contractor selected, it will take approximately 1 year of construction. Seems like a long way away, but this is definitely progress!
